Wireless Printing COMING SOON!!!

We are in the process of building-out a few installers for our on-campus printers that will allow our users to print from the wireless networks.
It's been a long-time coming!

A few restrictions so far:
1)  This only works from the Lesley_Secured wireless network... if you are on Lesley Wireless, it is recommended that you search for the lesley_secured WPA key found on the UT website.
2)  We have only tested this for OSX Snow Leopard, OSX Lion, and Windows 7... if you have WinXP or anything older than Snow Leopard, we can't guarantee that it works.
3)  We do NOT have an uninstaller, so if you no longer want to have those printers installed, all you need to do is DELETE or REMOVE the printer from your printer list.
4)  In order to print, you need to have the PCClient application running on your computer. *included in the packages below:

Right now, we are in testing phase and are posting the links to the installers for people to test with us.
The links below contain files necessary to install the network printers and the PCClient that allows you to make print charges.

We are writing up instructions which will be posted SOON.

Scanning Stations in DOBLE-INFOCOMMONS

So the scanning issues have been resolved in the Doble InfoCommons.
We decided to place the scanners at designated workstations so that the cables would stay stationary....
These machines have been tested on both MacOS & WindowsXP, and there is the choice of using the OS image handler (preview/microsoft scan), Picasa 3, Adobe Photoshop + EpsonScan Utility.

Software Updates for Wolfard Fall 2010 Image!

Rigorously running through software updates for the Wolfard workstation image.
It's interesting because this area contains what I consider our "2nd Gen" iMacs*...
These are characterized primarily by the thin base-stands, the Mini-DisplayPort connector, and the nVidia integrated graphics cards.

*2nd Generation only in the series of Aluminum iMacs that we have on this campus.

Love the Smell of New MacBookPros

13" MacBook Pros for Check-Out!
Coming SOON!

And it only really pertains to staff and faculty (sorry, students)...
We will be offering 13" MacBook Pros for loaners *for presentations, classroom instruction, & guest speakers, etc. to replace the IBM ThinkPads & Apple G4 Laptops that we used to check-out.....
These new machines will be dual-boot (with SnowLeopard (MacOSX 10.6.x) and Windows XP SP3)... and will contain the basic presentation software, media codecs, and SMART board Notebook software.

We have finalized the deployment images and are testing them now...

I'm really not at liberty to say more, but expect them to be "reservable" starting the Fall 2010.

***And for students, sorry... i didn't mean to get your hopes up.
The Academic Computing Department at the Art Institute of Boston offers Laptops for Checkout.
AND, you can use one of many computers in our labs.
