Labs & Classrooms Updates

Howdy, folks---
Thanks for being such great supporters of Lesley's Labs & Classrooms.

To keep you abreast of some of the developments in our office...

  • Equipment Reservations

The last few weeks, I have been working on re-creating the Equipment Reservation process.... Moving from using the form (found here) to using an all-out scheduling software (found here -sorry, on-campus only)...  I am continuing to develop the scheduling platform, but so far, i have entered a database of equipment and have enabled login via your @lesley username.  So please stay tuned!
  • New STAFF.
No doubt, you have seen posting for openings in our department.

This year, I have a fresh crop of new student agents who have been helping us keep-up with our ever-changing facilities.  So if you've been in a class and a polite student comes-in to greet you or help your teacher set-up their technology, be sure to say "HELLO!"
You know who we are by the nametags---

*I know it's a cruel joke, but if you see any of them, be sure to quiz them on something technology related.

As we are filling-up our work week with student knowledgeable student staff, we are also looking for students who would be interested in organizing events and creating marketing materials.  If you are interested in working with us, please visit our job site.
  • Tech & YOU
So, I, Richard Phung, Labs & Classrooms Coordinator with UT and resident tech person, has been offering Technology information sessions... these info sessions are basically focus groups where students, staff, and faculty can ask questions and show-off their tech skills.
They are completely informal and discuss how technology influences our personal and professional lives.  Be sure to check out our schedule here (http://www.lesley.edu/ut/academic/info.html)
    .
So tell your friends!!! grab lunch and come down to meet with us.
  • Room Checks & Repairs
My new staff has been very diligent about making sure the rooms are in tip-top shape.
4-5 times a day, they roam the halls and classrooms... keeping keen eyes on any equipment that is out of place.
ANY or ALL issues that are considered "known" issues are reported on this document.
    AKA Status and Conditions.

The status and conditions can be found on our main website:
    http://lesley.edu/ut/academic
    OR via our blog http://lesleylabs.blogspot.com
  • Event Support
Lastly, the Labs & Classrooms Division of University Technology will begin the process of working out a policy to support events on campus.  This means hiring new students to track/care for equipment, set-up/strike, and to act as the go-between for planning & implementation.
Seeing as how no one else will do it or knows how to do it...
With more than a dozen events under our belt, (2 this year alone), we are well on our way.

This is a LONG and arduous task, but please have patience as we create policies and procedures for offering this service to the campus.

  • DEMO STATION DEPLOYMENT
We are currently working out a proposed pilot program for installing DEMO computers in the black boxes themselves, thus eliminating the need to tote-in a computer for A/V equipped classrooms.    So far, it's pretty hush-hush...
****Please check back again later for notices and updates related to this roll-out****
And there you have it, folks...  this has been an update from the Labs & Classrooms Office.
For any questions, please feel free to contact us directly...
